african drum - Jabulani Mzinyathi

the demonised drum
speaks to my soul
soothing my african soul
sweetly caressing it

invoking those spirits
the restless spirits of my people
hot iron branded pagan
those that dangled at noose ends

reverberations of the drum
spelling out my happiness
at times messages of strife
the demonised drum

..surely the drumming on OGOV will invoke the spirits of Africa..these sons must be awoken to perform their destined duties...the poem makes me appreciate the brains of the poet and of those behind this platform..

well done Jabulani...and congrats, Bob; Julian and co...

  3. As cleverly patterned as its diction is, 'african drum' bears a fine rhythm that is masterful of a writer who is a true ambassador of Zimbabwean poetry.

    Welldone Jabulani

The poet in fewer words have painted a message of revival that beats on the ear of the dead sons of the land. Well done JAbulani
